It's Been Too Long!

Hello Family and Friends! It's been too long since we've posted! Things are really getting into the swing around here so computer time is becoming less for me (since Scott needs it for school work!). He is out right now so I thought I'd take the time to tell everyone what's been going one the last few weeks...

We have had our first and second snow. (see facebook for pictures!). it was beautiful! i've heard New England is getting early snow too. So weird! I'm liking the early snow. It's so pretty and a surprise every time it comes. I get excited like when I was a kid seeing it come down. We don't watch the weather so we ususally are surprized by the weather!

I had a job interview two weeks ago with Adam's County for a child protective position. I have not heard back from them, but I'm not too sad...I think it would have been VERY dificult. I feel that it may not have been a good fit anyway. I am starting to receive more phone calls for interviews. I recieved one today but I would have to work on Sunday. Scott and I would really like to keep Sunday's free and as a day to honor God with rest and time together...So I think I would turn it down. Scott has had some job leads and hopefully something will come along for him too! God is still providing for us and we are well taken care of. We pretty much only buy food and gas. :)

We have a possible lead on selling my car. we are praying this will go through! The extra money would be really helpful! We hope to put it right into money for a new car several years from now.

We have decided to go to the Littleton Vineyard for church at least for a while. We really liked the people and the services have been really challenging too. We went to a small group last week and met some really great people. We are going with them Saturday to do a corn maze. I'll make sure to post pictures! (probably on facebook...I don't have luck posting pictures on this blog!).

Scott and I are continuing to work together as a team and pray away stress and fears around our move. I think we are adjusting really well. Scott is doing awesome in school (he just finished his first class with an A!!). I'm still enjoying my time at home. It's a little boring...but I still enjoy being here. it makes me wish for the time that we can start a family and I can stay home with are kiddos! (my plan...what we are hoping for at least!!).

That's all for now!

Searching.

Life is back to normal now. Bethany flew home two days ago and took her little kitten with her. We enjoyed having her so much! It was nice to have another girl around to talk to for hours on end! She was feeling better by the end of her stay and was fun to hang out with.

I am still busy trying to find a job. I think when I came out I thought I would get one immediately...well these things take time! I am praying that God will lead me and I completely trust that he brought us out her and will supply us the means to continue to stay out here.

We are back into decorating mode around here. Now that it's just us again we are back into action! So we now have pretty curtains in the living room. They are blue and match our rug(Just as we wanted). Now for the bedroom curtains...then curtains are in the work completed category! I'm organizing the bathroom right now...I'm not happy with what we have so far...

We got out the other night for a little date. We hit the town! We have a shopping center called Belmar within walking distance and we walked there. We hit Old Navy, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Ross (which is our new favorite store!!). It's really nice having a shopping center within walking distance. A bit dangerous...but oh so fun!

My project tonight has been Strawberry Jam. It's a crock pot recipe and will be freezer jam...Cross our fingers!!

We went to another church this morning. It was called Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. I didn't care for it too much. the people were super-nice, but it was a bit too conservative for me. we are really leaning towards the Littleton Vineyard. I really would rather be closer to home, but I guess it's about the same distance we were driving to church. You get so used to things being super-close. I just really want to make friends and get involved. More Later!

Puzzle Buddy.

Hello Everyone! There isn't too much to update you on but I didn't want you to think we had forgotten about our blog!

This week we have had house guests. Our friend, Bethany and her kitten have been here while she recovers from being sick. It's been a lot of fun having her around! She's starting to become more active too so it's been even more fun as she has become better!

Scott is caught up on school work (praise God!!) and doing great with other school work as well. He's a smarty-pants! Scott has also been having fun with his "puzzle buddy" (aka Bethany). They have done 5 puzzles and she's been here for a little over a week now! They got one of those 10 in 1 puzzles at Walmart and have been going crazy! I myself am not much for puzzles! although I did help one night! My parents and sister will know the extent on my help...not very much. : ) I have enjoyed having someone else to cook for since Bethany has come! It's a blessing to have friends visiting!

Last Sunday Scott and I took a long drive into the mountains. It was so beautiful! We realized we are super-close to some beautiful spots! It was a spontaneous trip so we didn't have a change to take pictures to share, but we will get some!

I have had some successful batches of bagels!! I can cook in Colorado! Yippy! Bethany took some pictures. :) I think those will get posted on facebook. :) we also found a great new recipe for left-over popcorn...we made carmel corn! yummy!!

We really miss everyone. I've been missing my Grammie like crazy since I've been out here...it's a little weird. I didn't miss her too much when she first passed away but every since CO I've been missing her. I think it's been motivation for me to cook. I think of her especially when I make bread. I think I'm going to attempt real bread this week. wish me luck!

We are both really starting to miss family and friends a lot too. We love you all!

Cookies.

So there are a lot of things that are different in Colorado. For instance...I used to be a pretty decent cook (Don't ask my sister, she's had her share of flops from my kitchen!). Well things are completely different in CO. Being a mile above sea level completely changed cooking chemistry! who knew it would be so weird! It's challenging to find new recipes and alter old ones. i haven't tried altering any yet. I did have a sucessful batch of cookies though! Yippy! I was pretty excited after having a total flop the other night.
So what else is new...I am still searching for a job. I have some prospects but nothing yet. Scott is still working like crazy to keep up with school. He's a great student...I'm always having to drag him away from his work to spend some time with his wifey!! I am searching for a pick your own apple place so we can have a little outing. that should be fun. :) Oh, we have a house guest. We are kitty-sitting for a friend and she is frisky!! She's our little rebel. She rules the roost and lets the boys know she's boss! Hmm...nothing more for now. We miss everyone a lot and think of you often! We love you all!

Thankful.

So it's time for an update. We have all of our treasures in our home now. I swept the truck out this evening and they will pick it up tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it being gone. Even having the empty truck in the yard seems to increase my stress level!
So we went about a week with bare minimum and I was dreaming about the day when our things would come. Now that they are hear I have to confess I am missing those days when we didn't have things falling on top of us and endless hours of unpacking to do. I guess we can find anything to complain about! I am thankful to have our things safe and sound at our new home. Scott was able to carve a space out in the bedroom for our computer desk and we are all set up for that. that's especially helpful for his school work. It's good to have a space to go to. I am loving it too. I really do well when there is a specific spot for this and I can print what I want. I feel content! And I'm incredibly blessed to have a husband that helps me unpack and plays a roll in this whole process even though he is incredibly busy with school.
I have the kitchen almost perfect. I feel very blessed to have a lot of space in there! It's a small kitchen but it has so much cabinet space! I love it! We got the TV plugged in yesterday so we are able to watch a movies. Right now I have friends going as background sound while Scott is a class.
I plan to make cookies this evening but might postpone it for tomorrow because it's really hot tonight and I don't feel like heating up the apartment.
ok...i'm going to try and post some pictures of our house as we are unpacking. and i have to say, this is MUCH better than it was just a day ago!

Enjoy! The pictures seem self-explanatory! I can't wait to post when the house is in order!

New Beginnings

The open road, the wind, and awesome tunes. That is one way I would describe our driving experience across the country. It was one of those things I always imagined myself doing, but never thought I would. But now I've done it and I feel the spirit of adventure flowing through me.

We finally reached Colorado yesterday early afternoon. We couldn't see the mountains too well because the Californian wildfires left a haze all the way here on the eastern side of the mountains in Colorado. Incredible. As soon as we reached our new home which we've never seen in a town to which we've never been, we met with our landlord whom we also have never met. After that, we visited my new school, which we had never seen. After that, we had dinner, and then I had my first class which went from 6-10pm. It felt much later because my body is still an hour or two ahead. I have my next class tonight from 6-7:45. Last night's class was Counseling Services & Methods. Tonight's is Group Processing. My third class starts halfway through the semester.

Unfortunately, even though we are here, our stuff is not. We had been informed on Saturday that our stuff, which was supposed to be picked up on Wednesday was still sitting on the road in Auburn, ME. We spent days on the phone working with ABF Upack to get it picked up. So we are looking at seeing our stuff either Friday or Tuesday. We have an ABF rep working on getting it for Friday, and she might give us a discount if it takes longer. In the meantime, we are just continuing our camping in our apartment instead of a tent. I have to say, the cats like it a whole lot more.

Well, Rebecca and I are going to get out today and explore our new community. We have everything we could ever want pretty much within walking distance - food, shopping malls, asian grocery stores, and so on. Pictures to come later.

Camping.

I wanted to take a chance to tell you all a little bit about our days traveling. Things are going very well. We started out from Scott's parents on Wednesday morning. We went to a campground near Niagra Falls. It was right on Lake Ontario. We saw the most beautiful sunset! There are more pictures to come later. We traveled into Ohio after that. It was rainy the whole time we were there, so our thoughts on Ohio are a little dreary...It wasn't my favorite state. We went to Illinois after that. Traveling through Chicago was very tiring and it seemed to take forever. We were never so glad as when we made it to our beautiful campground. It was a nice site and so quiet! We have decided that we are fuddy-duddies...we like peace and quiet and a slow pace. :) After Illinois we went to cedar Rapids, Iowa. This has been our favorite camp so far! We will post pictures later. It was beautiful. We had a feast last night. We had a lot of meats that I stuck in the cooler and hoped we would eat on the way. Well...that was last night! we had chicken, sausage, ground turkey, potatoes and onions(chopped up and cooked Goss style). We were able to dry things out last night. It was breezy and warm so our tent dried out as well as our towels. The little things that make my day. :) We now are traveling to Nebraska. We are treating ourselves to dinner out tonight which is quite thrilling! I'll end with a prayer request. We have had a hold up with our furniture. The truck never picked up our stuff...so It's still hanging out in our yard. Please pray that our traiilor makes it to Lakewood ASAP. Also that we can roll with the punches and see the good in frustrating things. Thanks for praying! More later on all our travels and more thoughts! I have so much more I want to talk about!!
